Pitch Competition

As part of the fourth annual conference, ASYF announces its pitch competition. It is opening the ground to all promising and creative technology-oriented business ideas that are inspired by Al Sharq values in the scopes of information technology, media, education, energy, medicine, transportation and others.

It is a chance for creative youth, potential Entrepreneurs and early stage founders, to build a large network of Turkish as well as international businessmen, funders and venture capitalists.

Am I eligible?

If both answers are yes, then you are good to go..


Write a maximum 500 words business brief.

Prepare a 1-3 mins video to pitch your idea.

Fill the application form .

Applications will be evaluated by experts where only 5 creative ideas will be selected and the nominees will enjoy these advantages:

Attend the conference for free.
Have access to the workshops, training and other activities offered in the conference.
Full paid trip (flight tickets and 3 nights accommodation) to attend the conference in beautiful Istanbul.
Get a chance to meet and talk with globally renowned speakers and experts attending the conference.
Pitch their idea in front of potential businessmen, VCs and experts and have a chance of being funded.

Out of 5 nominations, the best three ideas will win the Al Sharq Pitch award!

What is the Application criteria?

1- Team of youth between 15-35 years old.
2- At least 2 team members.
3- Ability to present their pitch in English
4- Originality of the business idea [Unlike anything already existing]
5- Idea should not be in the implementation/execution stage.
6- The product/service benefits the region in the first place.
7- Complete and comprehensive Business model including:

§ Executive Summary
§ Products or Services – describes the key features and benefits, pricing, current state of development, and proprietary position
§ Market and Marketing Strategy
§ Management
§ Operations – plan for production, delivery of product or services, cost, margins, operating complexity, and resources required
§ Financials and Budget Breakdown- presented in an easy to read and understandable format that is consistent with the launch and growth strategies of the plan and supporting assumptions.
§ Offering – Proposal/terms to investors; indicates how much needed, the ROI, the structure of the deal, and possible exit strategies.
§ Viability – Details opportunity, distinctive competence, management understanding, and investment potential
§ Brevity and Clarity – Is the plan sixteen (10) pages with minimal redundancy

What is the selecting process?

1- All applications will be evaluated by experts and will be assessed for criteria.
2- Out of all applications, 5 teams will be selected to pitch their ideas in the conference in front of 1000 attendees audience.
3- Letters of acceptance will be sent to the selected teams. A confirmation will be required within 3 days. If no response is received from the team, the open spot will automatically be moved to next team in waiting list.
4- Selected teams will be granted a full paid trip to the beautiful city Istanbul to attend the conference. This includes flight tickets, accommodation at the Hilton Istanbul Bosphorus and attending all sessions without charge.
5- Selected teams will have access to all conference activities including Workshops, Speeches, Masterclasses, Art Night and Concert.
6- Selected teams will have the rare opportunity of meeting and networking with globally renowned speakers and experts attending the conference.
7- Selected teams will pitch their idea in front of potential investors, businessmen, VCs and experts.

What is the Presentation criteria?

v The pitch official language is English
v Present in 3-4 minutes
v Attractive and informative display
v Prompt acknowledgement and explanation of the venture

Is there more Details?

1- In the evening of 7th October, the 5 selected teams will be joined in for a closed meeting where they will receive orientation and pitch workshop format.
2- In the evening of the 8th October at 4:00, all teams will be required to pitch their ideas on stage.
3- 3- 4 minute Pitches followed by 10 minutes Q and A by jury
4- Jury will debate teams with discussion of market, funding challenges and summarizes each pitch and provides expert feedback.
